Effective Classroom Assessment Methods in Foreign Language Teaching

In the field of education, especially in teaching Foreign Languages, the learning environment is becoming increasingly diverse and the demands of learners are ever higher. Applying suitable teaching methods and establishing effective evaluation criteria for learners are among the top concerns of educators.

Recently, Ms. Camille Williams – an English Language Fellow from the U.S. Consulate General / English Language Office, shared her practical experience and analysis of common classroom evaluation methods in the Foreign Language Teaching program during a meeting with faculty and students of the Master’s in English Language program at Hoa Sen University. She shared, “Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. Teachers should choose appropriate methods and explain them in detail so that learners can understand the course objectives. Besides imparting language knowledge, we also aim to help students develop soft skills such as presentation, argumentation, planning, etc., so that each individual can progress and enhance their self-management abilities.”

Teachers and students engaged in lively discussions, exchanging the methods they have been using and experimenting with in their classes. Ms. Camille Williams enthusiastically addressed and advised everyone’s concerns and inquiries. The workshop was an opportunity for faculty, master’s students, and those interested in the teaching field to meet, exchange academic ideas, and broaden their perspectives.

The Master’s program in English Language at Hoa Sen University always aims to provide practical experiences for learners and strives to support students in applying their acquired knowledge in real-world scenarios.
